Entertainment thrived and flourished in Victorian times. Folk had an increased awareness of foreign countries because of colonial expansion and so had a fascination with the exotic. Exhibitions, dramas, conjurers, illusionists and magicians were popular on the entertainment front, and travel to different locations (such as the beach!) for leisure purposes increased, even among poorer folk.
These pages will provide information on the details of what it was really like to be entertained in the Victorian era, and I will be posting articles related to the different socio-economic classes of the time.
